BE-Basic Foundation is a public-private partnership that develops industrial biobased solutions to build a sustainable society.  The  consortium aims to find new ways to produce chemicals from biological materials. But are these “green” chemicals as safe as the substances that they should replace? Researchers at the Vrije University have made a major step in the ecological risk assessment of biochemicals. The results were recently published in the journal Green Chemistry.
